USS-POSCO cold rolled sheets are rolled on the only five-stand, six-high pickle line / tandem
cold mill in the entire United States. This translates into an exceptionally uniform
and “tight” gauge pattern on an exceedingly rectangular piece of steel that
compares in quality to the top five cold mills worldwide. In addition to becoming cold
rolled annealed, material rolled in the cold mill moves downstream and comprises the
substrate of our quality galvanized and tin plate coated steel products.
Cold rolled sheet product moves directly from the pickle line/tandem cold mill to the KM-CAL continuous annealing line and is produced with tension leveled flatness, a blemish-free appearance, is electrolytically clean, and consistently on gauge. New tolerances allow us to supply sheets up to 54 inches wide for applications where customers are currently using cold rolled strip.
The following markets, with critical surface and shape requirements, will benefit greatly from this world-class standard of quality:
- High quality steel furniture (file cabinets, desks, chairs, tables, and modular workstations)
- Computer (cabinets and internal components)
- Contractor's hardware (door knobs, hinges, and fixtures now using cold roll strip)
