Christopher A. Conkling
Secretary & General Counsel

Chris Conkling, a native of Nyack, New York, received his undergraduate degree (B.A.) from Tufts University in Medford, MA in 1974 and his law degree (J.D.) in 1979 from Pepperdine University School of Law in Malibu, CA. He was admitted to the California Bar in 1979 and to the United States District Court, Northern District of California, in 1985.

Following graduation from law school, Conkling worked in private practice for five years. In 1986, he joined the Western Area Law Office of USX Corporation (now known as U.S. Steel) in San Francisco where he represented USS-POSCO Industries (UPI) in litigation in both state and federal courts and handled transactional matters as well.

In 1990, he was promoted to his present position as Secretary and General Counsel for UPI in Pittsburg, CA. In that capacity, he provides legal advice to UPI’s management and its Board of Directors as well as manages the legal affairs of the Company through its Law Department.

Conkling is a member of the American and California Bar Association, American Corporate Counsel Association, Contra Costa Bar Association, and the American Iron & Steel Institute.

He and his wife, Concetta, reside in Moraga, California and have two children. His interests include travel, sailing and skiing.
